Expresar propósito.

Cuando la idea es simple se usa el verbo infinitivo sin colocar un ‘para’ .

Yo estudio inglés para saber más idiomas.

Cuando la idea es compleja, vamos a ver lo que ocurre.

Deshizo la cama  para (hacerme pensar) (que yo pensara) que había domido en ella.

He rumpled the bedclothes (to make me think) ( so that I should/would think) that  he had slept in it.

Expresar propósito negativo (evitar que, para que no/nadie)

Él mató a los hombres que lo ayudaran/ayudaron/ habían ayudado a enterrar el tesoro (para que nadie sino él supiera) (para evitar que alguien supiese) dónde estaba.

He killed the men who helped him to bury the treasure (so that nobody would know) ( to prevent anyone knowing) where it was buried.

Pon de nuevo el corcho a la botella no sea que alguien la vuelque.

Put the cork backn in case/lest someone knocks the bottle over.
